Natala Surtova (Ari 10, Rog 2) is 29 and she is the sister of the King of Brevoy.
(531-xxx) Age 29 in 560.
The Queen and sister of King Noleski Surtova. She rules alongside him, managing the public aspects of the Kingdom, receiving petitioners and nobles and throwing the requisite balls. She is strong-willed and social. She enjoys the public aspects of leading the kingdom.
There are rumors among the smallfolk that she is secretly her brother's lover or that she prefers the gentler gender, but those rumors are hushed up by the State. Other rumors claim that she has many lovers in the Palace among the common servants. At least three servants have been hanged for spreading those rumors and others have been flogged.
In 552 her uncle Domani Surtova introduced Natala to a line of suitors, which she famously rejected in entertaining ways, such as by giving them tasks to do for her and then laughing and throwing away the gifts when the suitors achieved it. The rejections caused some diplomatic problems for the House.
Natala began entertaining suitors again in March 558.
In December 559, Natala became the sole face of the Kingdom, entertaining petitioners after her brother narrowly survived an assassination attempt by an Orlovsky who was angered by the imprisonment of several of his house. This attempt led to an increase in the intensity of the campaign of persecution against the Orlovskys and their Medvyed allies. This campaign resulted in Lord Poul Orlovsky fleeing the country and in Wynne Orlovsky's imprisonment in 560, which has become rather controversial.
Natala is sharp both in mind and in personality. She will not suffer a fool and she has a keen eye to success and posterity. She wants to rule and lead, she does not want to be a housewife.
She dislikes cats.
Natala has maintained good relationships with most of the houses other than Orlovsky and Medvyed. Part of the reason for the maintenance is her good handle on court politics. The other part of the reason is her entertainment of the marriage suit of several members of each House.
